ABC host Sara Haines, a former host of The View, said she hopes the show can find hosts with "gratitude."
"Whoever goes there, I want them to come with a gratitude that this place stood before you came and it’ll stand after, so come in knowing that you are lucky to ever sit at that table," Haines told the New York Post on Thursday.
Haines, 42, said she was a "fan for years" before hosting the show. "The people that I got to sit with, I looked around … and I just want that space protected," she said.
Former host Abby Huntsman recently left the show following reports that she was treated "like shit." On her way out the door, Huntsman rebuffed attempts by producers to get her to deny claims the show had a "toxic culture."
Sunny Hostin, a co-host on the show, said this week there was "no discussion" about adding a fifth host despite reports that the show executives want Friday host Ana Navarro to join the show full-time.
Tense confrontations are known to happen on the show. On Thursday's episode, co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain got into a heated clash, leading McCain to confront a producer about the incident off-air.
"Meghan seemed like she was reaching a breaking point during the confrontation with the producer," a source told the Daily Mail, adding that it "looked like she was ready to walk off the set."
