A former host of The View said her time spent on the show between 2015 and 2016 felt similar to her college years.
"When they rushed me, the hazing was brutal — but I made it through," Michelle Collins told US Weekly in a Friday interview. "Yeah, very much. I mean, listen, I went to a women’s college, Barnard College. And, it only makes sense that I ended up on The View. That’s sort of like, it’s graduate school from Barnard, basically. So, I see that very much. And, it’s all good energy and everything else."
"I have to be honest with you, much like with college, you eventually have to move on," the host added. Current host Sunny Hostin also called the show "like a sorority" in an interview last week.
The comments come during a contentious time on the show. Host Abby Huntsman left the show for her father's gubernatorial campaign after she was treated "like shit."
The show is known for its "toxic culture" with "everyone on the show" getting "treated like shit," according to an insider. The show is known for its clashes on-screen as well as off-screen, with insiders leaking salacious details of what goes on behind the scenes.
This week, hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain went head-to-head on-screen after Goldberg compared the conservative pundit's late father to Sen. Mitt Romney. McCain was not fond of the comparison and almost stormed off during the break after Goldberg tried talking down to her, saying she was twice her age.
