After a month of work, Eagle View Elementary School fourth-graders exhibited their science fair projects before the school and public on Friday, Jan. 31.
Projects matched one of three categories: Research, experiment and challenge, with this year's challenge being to build cardboard furniture. Exhibits ranged from incubation of bacteria, milk plastic, research on the brain and owls and many other inspired topics. As the first year this science fair has been done at Eagle View, many creative projects were on display.
Students who placed in the top three in each category will move on to the Five County Elementary Science and Engineering Fair on Feb. 25 at Sourcewell in Staples. The top three finishers in each category were:
Challenges
- Gus McKenna with a cardboard bed (also overall champion).
- Sarah Bitzer with a cardboard chair.
- Henry Thell with a cardboard couch.
Experiment
- Oliver McKenna, growing germs.
- Eli Martini, milk plastic.
- Sari Ann Toftness, bubbles.
Research
- Maria Neva, the brain.
- Frankie Brinkman, stars.
- Savannah Barth-Bushinski, owls.
